(MLive) VANDERCOOK LAKE, MI — Customers can now leave Klavon’s Pizzeria & Pub full of pizza and beer at night and head back the next morning for a caffeinated pick-me-up.
The Jackson-based pizzeria chain has opened its first drive-thru coffee window in its Vandercook Lake location at 1361 E. McDevitt Ave. Coffee, pastries and bagels are now available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, company officials said.
“Adding drive-thru coffee service was a natural fit for our business model,” Owner Justin Klavon said in a statement. “Our team members arrive early in the morning to prepare for opening at lunch, so it was simply a matter of identifying a coffee that matched our commitment to quality, and we found that partner in Ann Arbor-based Zingerman’s Coffee Company.”
Two baristas on staff completed coffeehouse training through Zingerman’s, Klavon said.
The coffee window highlights the restaurant’s Italian influence. Espresso-based beverages and pastries are common for breakfast in Italy, Klavon learned while training there, he said. He hopes the coffee menu will bring synergy under one roof.
A similar coffee service is in the works for fall 2021 for the Klavon’s restaurant in Mason.
The coffee menu includes espresso-based drinks like an Americano, latte and cappuccino, and coffeehouse classics like a chai latte, mocha and hot chocolate. The menu also has black, green and herbal teas, specialty lattes, like a honey-and-cinnamon Cafe Con Miel, and cold brew drinks.
Food options include cinnamon rolls, scones, vanilla parfait and rotating bagel options from Kibby Cobb Deli.
Customers can pre-order online or order at the window.
