Since our agency’s inception more than 30 years ago, our Marx Layne team has held the belief that giving back to our community is just as important as providing outstanding communications services to our clients. And during these challenging times, when the need has been so great, we are proud to continue to give to local nonprofit organizations, charitable groups and meaningful causes.
Freedom House Detroit
Freedom House Detroit is a temporary home for survivors of persecution from around the world seeking legal shelter in the US and Canada. Its mission is to uphold a fundamental American principle, one inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty, providing safety for those “yearning to breathe free.” At the start of Michigan’s COVID-19 stay-at-home order, cleaning supplies and basic home essentials were in short supply and the nonprofit faced a critical shortage. Marx Layne made a donation to cover the purchase of various items, including cleaning supplies, antibacterial lotions, paper towels, toilet paper and shampoo, among other items.
Not A Family Goes Hungry
Recognizing the tremendous need within local immigrant communities during COVID-19, a coalition of community leaders and nonprofit organizations – in partnership with Holy Redeemer Grade School and Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church – launched the “Not a Family Goes Hungry” program to deliver weekly food boxes to immigrant families. These families are out of work, faced with significant financial challenges and don’t have the resources to provide food for themselves or their loved ones. Marx Layne joined a group of corporate and business sponsors by making a donation to support the purchase of food to help feed local families.
Stand With, Small Business Madison Heights!
Marx Layne donated to the city of Madison Heights “Stand With, Small Business Madison Heights!” campaign to support local businesses. To help reach the goal to support “mom and pop” businesses impacted by COVID-19, the city hoped to raise a minimum of $10k. The goal was surpassed – and now continues to grow – with our donation and media relations messaging and outreach. We are proud to support the small businesses that make each city unique.
CARE of Southeastern Michigan
Marx Layne made a donation to CARE of Southeastern Michigan, an organization whose mission is to strengthen resiliency in people and their communities through prevention, education, and services that improve the quality of life. Since the COVID-19 crisis, CARE has had to move all its programs online with virtual meeting groups. CARE supports more than 40,000 people in Macomb, Wayne and Oakland Counties each year.
Black Lives Matter and United Negro College Fund
We all have a responsibility and duty to speak out when injustices take place. As a small business, we are committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect while creating a positive work environment that is inclusive to all. At Marx Layne our work for change goes beyond one social media post. We have proudly contributed to, and are dedicated to supporting, Black Lives Matter and the United Negro College Fund, among others.
